Kingdom of Tonga (Day 8)

Our third day of rain and limited humpback encounters -- discouraging, but as we know well, such can be wildlife photography.  From an encounter standpoint, today's highlight was floating over a singing male -- we could actually feel the sound waves vibrate in our chests!  As he gracefully glided to surface, Richelle and I quickly swam with him for a short distance immediately over his enormous back just before it broke the surface of the water.  We could easily see the deep notches surrounding his vertebrae in his current malnourished state -- within the next month, he will begin his journey to Antarctica's feeding grounds.  (YouTube link to hear the song we recorded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nUiVJnNTZw )
