Bandhavgarh National Park, India (Day 6)

We're on a roll now -- though sometimes brief, we are having good to excellent sightings on every game drive.

Similar to the big cats in Africa, tigers can become habituated to seeing vehicles -- but once humans step on the ground, their behavior is unpredictable and potentially dangerous. Thus, one can obviously not exit the Gypsys and the vehicles are restricted to the park's trails. At one location, the tigers were not easily observable from the trails so we employed elephants under the direction of mahouts (handlers) to venture deeper into the forest. Quite a unique experience riding on the back of a pachyderm -- also challenging to obtain quality images as tree branches viciously attempt to swat you off the lumbering giant.

It was 108 F today -- but it was a "dry" heat .... right.
